"Even older and just as rich, the ritual of Kappa Alpha Order thrilled his soul and permeated his mind. By the end of the ceremony he was so awed, so filled with idealism, so saturated with nebulous aspirations, that he gazed with love on all his brothers…He floated down the stairs of the old Administration Building that night new born and shining, warm and secure in the midst of a group that no outside force could penetrate nor unsuspected evil ever tarnish. Porter was a Knight of Kappa Alpha Order (193)"

In 1973, Kappa Chapter obtained its present cannon. Unfortuinately, back in October of 2009, it was heavily damaged by a group of vandals attempting to move it from its location. The wheels and body of the cannon, being made of wood, had heavily rotted since 2001 when it had been refurbished. Due to Brother Clayton Sembler's gracious donation, the cannon has a completely new steel body and has been put back in its rightful place. The cannon is once again serving it's rightful duty standing proudly outside of the Kappa Alpha Mansion. We would like to give thanks to Hardeman Province Commander Lee Oliver, who worked diligently for the chapter to find a way to repair the cannon, and a special thank you to Brother Clayton Sembler, who donated the work, time, and materials to fix the cannon and restore it to it's old glory. We are beyond grateful.
Fraternally,
Kappa Chapter

Hello All,
My name is Kirkland Brooks; I am the newly elected President of Kappa chapter here at Mercer University. This year is hopefully going to be an unprecedented year of improvement and growth. Not just growth of the chapter but growth of relationships. This year, after studies, our main goal is going to be developing strong ties with all of our distinguished alumni. Soon there will be a semester newsletter sent out to all alumni who's information we have along with a monthly newsletter posted right here on this website. I strongly encourage every alumni that visits this site to send us their information so that we can stay in contact. I am really looking forward to a full and progressive year ahead.
Fraternally yours, Kirkland Brooks |

I would like to welcome you to the new web site. A special thanks goes to Derek Cook and Harrison Frazier for putting lots of time and effort into it. You can view calender events on left hand side and read articles submitted by the officers. We hope the web site gives you good up-to-date information about everything Kappa.
